In Handwriting Without Tears, we started our new unit Magic C letters! Morah introduced our new friend, the Magic C Bunny. He came to visit the children and explain that C is a very special letter...it has magical powers!
C makes other letters! As our "Magic C Rap" song puts it...Magic C makes a, d and g and before we're through do o and q.
To form a capital O you first make a C but don't lift your pencil...keep going and it forms an O! The same goes for G and Q.
With lowercase letters the same works...magic lowercase c makes o, a, d and q.
The children love our new friend as well as dancing to our Handwriting Without Tears song!
Kindergarten has moved on to a new unit in math....SHAPES! We spoke about the difference between flat shapes and 3D shapes. We even went through the names of various 3D shapes. The children also had the opportunity to go on a scavenger hunt to find the shapes we learned about throughout our class. They were so creative! Kindergarten also recreated these shapes with various objects like magna tiles and blocks from our block center. The children had a blast!
February is Literacy Month at Mazel! During the month we have invited parents to visit the class and read to the children, have a literacy fun day, buy books from a book fair and be visited by an author. Below the children had the opportunity to visit the mobile library. The librarian read books and allowed the children to browse the shelves.
