Rosh Hashana Stations

Rosh Hashana Stations

All of Kindergarten came together on our last day of school before Rosh Hashana to experience 4 exciting activities, getting us into the spirit of the holiday.
We enjoyed the symbolic food of Rosh Hashana by
tasting the Rosh Hashana fruit,
making our own round raisin Challah
decorating 'Shana Tova' cards and
illustrating   our own Rosh Hashana bingo boards

1. Challah

Each of the friends at this station decorated a round challah with raisins, colored the lid of their baking tin and learned about dipping round raisin challah into honey instead of salt, so that we have a sweet year all year round. Morah Batsheva gave every child challah dough, it was baked at home.

2. Tasting Station

There are so many different items we eat on Rosh Hashana which help us ask Hashem for a good year. At Morah Sharons station, each friend had a chance to try all of the symbolic fruit. Some of us had never tried these before at all. Everybody was encouraged to taste but nobody had to eat it if they didn't want to.
We graphed the preferences and had second helping of any real favorites.

We eat POMEGRANATE because it is made up of many many seeds and we want to collect many many mitzvos.

We eat CARROT  because in Yiddish it is called merren which means more and we want to do more mitzvos

We eat DATES and FIGS because they're one of the 7 special fruits Israel is blessed with.

Raise your hand if you enjoy POMEGRANATE

3. Shana Tova Cards

All of the Kindergarten friends put their name into a basket and pulled a name out. A Shana Tova card was then decorated especially for the person picked. We all wished each other good things for the year ahead and illustrated the wishes. We even used scissors to cut out the cards without help. It was so much Fun. Morah Celia gave everybody little jewels to stick on the card as decorations.

4. Bingo Boards

When playing Rosh Hashana Bingo at this center, each friend had to draw the items on their bingo board. Once the board was filled with pictures, they were circled one by one until a row or column was completed.
